ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday disposed of a case concerning the payment of judicial allowances to employees of special courts and tribunals, after being informed that the allowances had commenced in compliance with the court’s orders.
The matter was heard in the court of Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir in connection with a contempt of court petition filed by employees of the Customs Appellate Tribunal.
During the proceedings, counsel for the petitioners, Asif Gujar, appeared before the court. An implementation report was submitted by the Accountant General’s Office confirming compliance with the court’s directions.
Advocate Asif Gujar informed the court that, in light of the judicial directives, the judicial allowance had been incorporated into the employees’ salaries.
He further stated that the allowances would not be withheld pending the Supreme Court’s decision in the case, which is to be heard on a day-to-day basis before the Federal Constitutional Bench.
Justice Tahir observed to the government counsel that the matter would now proceed before the Supreme Court, where the cases would need to be fixed for hearing and adjudicated.
