Ten people have died after the collapse of a bridge in India’s western state of Gujarat, broadcaster NDTV reported on Wednesday.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his deep sorrow over the tragic bridge collapse. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

In his post, the Indian Prime Minister also announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh from the PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased, and Rs. 50,000 for those injured in the incident.

Last month, in a similar incident, a bridge over the Indrayani river in Pune collapsed, resulting in at least two deaths and several others being swept away.
