KARACHI/GUDDU/SUKKUR:
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Sunday said the provincial government has taken emergency measures in view of the threat of a possible superflood.
The top priority of the government, he added, is the protection of human lives, livestock, and critical infrastructure.
Sharjeel said the district administration, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Pakistan Navy, and Pakistan Army are jointly carrying out evacuation and relief operations. He added that 192 boats have been deployed in Katcha areas to facilitate timely evacuation.
Thousands of families, he added, were being shifted to safe locations, including schools, govt buildings, and tent villages, where food, clean drinking water, and healthcare facilities have been arranged. Machinery, stones, and manpower have been deployed at vulnerable sites.
He appealed to the public and media to cooperate with the administration and refrain from spreading rumors or panic.
