ISLAMABAD:

The Chairman of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) on Wednesday briefed Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, on new energy-efficient models developed for industrial and domestic use aimed at reducing power consumption and costs.

During the meeting, the NTDC chief highlighted that improved insulation in buildings can significantly help conserve energy by maintaining internal temperatures at optimal levels. He said the federal government has already begun implementing the Energy Use Building Codes introduced for this purpose.

Akhtar Khan underscored that adopting modern and sustainable energy technologies is essential for Pakistan’s economic progress. He noted that energy demand surges sharply during summer months across both industrial and domestic sectors, adding that building insulation could help reduce the burden on the national grid and cut transmission losses.

“Pakistan’s GDP growth is closely linked to energy costs,” said Akhtar Khan. “To enhance regional competitiveness, adopting sustainable energy practices in industries is the need of the hour.”

The SAPM directed the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to collaborate with NTDC and submit a progress report on implementing energy-efficient models.
