Actor opens up about criticism of his personality and why fame can make social interactions tiring
One of Pakistan’s most well-known TV and movie actors, Fahad Mustafa, is best known for hosting the hugely successful game show on a private entertainment channel. He garnered widespread recognition for his performance with Hania Aamir in the popular drama Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.
Despite his success in television, movies, and production, Fahad frequently becomes popular on the internet due to criticism of what some fans see as his arrogant demeanor or his excessively extravagant live performances.
Fahad responded to the criticism and offered his explanation for why people occasionally misinterpret his actions while promoting his new movie Aag Lagay Basti Mein on journalist Maliha Rehman’s YouTube show.
“I am not arrogant; I am wise enough to know where to open up and where to be reserved,” he said. “If people see it as arrogance, let it be—it’s my right. Because I do this show and I understand the vibe.”
The actor explained that constant public attention often makes social interactions exhausting.
“Sometimes I hang out easily, sometimes I can’t. People recognise you everywhere and it becomes a hassle,” he said. “I’m not saying I’m Tom Cruise or Shah Rukh Khan, but yes, it becomes tiring sometimes. You don’t look good all the time, and people take pictures anyway.”
Fahad also spoke about how frequently his name comes up in interviews and said he sees it as a sign of his relevance in the industry.
“I accept that I am important enough and popular enough that people love to mention me in interviews,” he said. “I don’t know why celebrities mention me in shows, but I don’t mind. I feel proud.”
However, the actor admitted that praise sometimes makes him uneasy.
“I also get tired of praise at this point because 4-5 more people will come after me about how to bring me down,” he said.
