LAHORE:
The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced a strict crackdown on smoke-emitting heavy vehicles as part of the province’s ongoing anti-smog drive, warning that old, unfit buses used by educational institutions and public or private hospitals will no longer be permitted on the roads.
Officials said that any vehicle found emitting excessive smoke will face immediate fines and may be impounded on the spot.
Director General Environment Punjab, Imran Hameed Sheikh, has ordered all institutions to urgently inspect and repair their heavy transport fleets used for transporting students and staff.
