A sessions court has awarded death penalty, life imprisonment and a fine of Rs2.5 million to the accused, Iqbal Arain, in the case of the abduction and rape of a seven-year-old girl, Aliza.

The accused had abducted the minor while she was playing outside her home Saddar Police Station, Dunyapur area.

A case was registered in 2024 under sections 364, 377 and 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s father, Muhammad Sajjad.

A police spokesperson stated that the investigation was conducted with utmost diligence, integrity, and professionalism, resulting in strong evidence being presented before the court.

Consequently, the honourable court found the accused guilty and handed down the severe sentence.

Deputy Police Officer (DPO) Captain (retd) Ali Bin Tariq, commenting on the verdict, stated that the rigorous pursuit of the case and the fitting punishment for the criminal mark a victory for justice.

He emphasised that police is committed to fulfilling all legal requirements to ensure stringent punishment for those involved in serious crimes and remains dedicated to protecting the lives and property of citizens.

It is to be noted that the accused, Iqbal, had lured the seven-year-old victim to his home before assaulting her.

The incident came to light when the girl’s family alerted authorities. Police responded promptly to a 15-call and arrested the accused.

Muhammad Mushtaq, President of the Medical Store Association and Advocate Rao Qaiser, also commented, stating that those who commit such atrocities against innocent children do not deserve any leniency and must face the harshest penalties.
