ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has summoned a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) — a constitutional forum meant for accountability of judges of the superior judiciary — on July 12.
It was learnt that the CJP, who is the SJC chairman, summoned the meeting to review the pending complaints against judges of the superior judiciary as well as deliberating upon making amendments in the rules of the Council.
Besides the CJP, the SJC is composed of two senior-most judges of the Supreme Court and the two most senior chief justices of high courts.
The forum is mandated for probing allegations of misconduct or incapacity against judges of the Supreme Court and high courts.
