ISLAMABAD:

A joint China-Pakistan children’s painting exhibition opened at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), featuring entries from a bilateral art competition, China Economic Net (CEN) reported on Wednesday. The event marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Titled “Join Hands to Commemorate and Paint Peace Together”, the exhibition showcases 300 works, including paintings, calligraphy, paper-cuttings, and AI-generated art. Organized by the China-Pakistan Educational and Cultural Institute, the five-day event will also travel to Punjab University to engage a wider audience.

Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, stressed the significance of remembering historical sacrifices. “This event pays tribute to those who laid down their lives for peace, freedom and dignity. Through this competition, we encourage the younger generation to embrace the values of peace, friendship and unity,” he said.

Shi Yuanqiang, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, underscored the shared historical legacy of both nations. “China and Pakistan stood together in the fight against fascism and made important contributions to world peace. Today, it is vital for our two countries to remain united and work toward a community with a shared future for mankind,” he remarked.

The exhibition incorporates symbolic elements such as doves, olive branches, and vivid portrayals of Chinese and Pakistani children holding hands. The opening ceremony was attended by over 200 guests, including Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Education and Professional Training Farah Naz Akbar, National Assembly member Dr Shazia Sobia and others.
