KARACHI:

Aga Khan University Hospital organised a colourful and fun-filled event for children undergoing cancer treatment, giving the young patients a chance to enjoy games, face painting, and a magic show.

The fair featured a variety of activities, including hand painting, target shooting, and play-dough sessions, bringing smiles to the children’s faces.

Some children had butterfly and spider designs painted on their faces, while others created shapes like bears and flowers out of play-dough. The event not only entertained the children but also encouraged their creativity and imagination.

Cancer survivor children were also invited to the event to share their success stories, providing hope and inspiration to other patients and their parents. Certificates were awarded to children who had successfully completed their treatment. Activities like target shooting and other games gave the young patients a brief respite from their daily struggles.

Speaking on the occasion, Pediatric Oncologist Dr Sadaf Altaf said that around 10,000 children in Pakistan are diagnosed with cancer every year, with blood and brain cancers being the most common. She added that the annual fair aims to bring joy and reduce despair in the lives of these children.
