The government on Saturday appointed Naveed Asghar Chaudhry as acting chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) following the resignation of Lt Gen (retd) Sajjad Ghani earlier in the day.

A notification issued by the Ministry of Water Resources confirmed Chaudhry’s appointment. Ghani served as Wapda chairman for almost three years before stepping down.

Chaudhry previously served as the interim Wapda chairman in 2022 after Lt Gen (retd) Muzammil Hussain resigned due to “personal reasons”.
