KARACHI:
In a daylight robber, four armed robbers barged into a house on Saturday, held the family hostage, and made off with valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees. Two members of the family were shot and injured when they tried to put up resistance.
In a police complaint, the victim, who wished not to be named, said that she and her sons, along with their wives, were at their home in Surjani Town’s Sector 7-B when armed robbers broke in. The robbers snatched gold jewellery from her daughters-in-law — weighing more than seven tolas.
Apart from the jewellery, the robbers also looted cash and several new wedding suits. When the victim’s sons resisted, the robbers opened fire, injuring both of them. They fled the scene with their loot, leaving the family traumatised.
In another incident, police arrested two suspects after a robbery at a mobile phone shop in DHA’s Badar Commercial, while two of their accomplices managed to escape after a shootout.
According to SSP, four armed men entered a mobile shop and looted mobile phones at gunpoint before fleeing. Following the incident, President of the Karachi Mobile and Electronics Dealers Association Gulfam stated that the suspects had stolen mobile phones worth millions of rupees.
