LAHORE:
Another petition landed in the Lahore High Court, challenging the 27th Constitutional Amendment, adding to the growing legal opposition to the controversial amendment.
Citizen Asbah Kamran submitted the constitutional petition, naming the President of Pakistan, Parliament, and the Senate as respondents through their respective secretaries.
In the petition, the petitioner argued that the 27th Amendment is inconsistent with the fundamental principles of Islam. It contends that once the Constitution is in place, neither Parliament nor the Senate can legislate in a manner contrary to Islamic principles.
