Thousands of AI-generated ASMR clips are currently dominating TikTok, fueling one of the platform’s latest viral trends. Since AI video content began gaining popularity in 2023, users have continued to create increasingly bizarre and creative content in the hopes of going viral.
In May, a particularly notable trend saw AI programs transforming viral podcast clips into baby versions of hosts like Joe Rogan and Theo Von, taking over TikTok feeds. Now, users are captivated by a wave of AI ASMR visuals that combine soothing sounds with surreal, impossible scenarios.
Searching TikTok for “AI ASMR” brings up dozens of mesmerizing, surreal visuals that blend repetition with sensory appeal. One of the most common types involves a knife slicing through crystal-like objects shaped like fruits—watermelons, grapes, apples, and even mysterious orbs that reveal unexpected interiors like a kiwi or coconut.

But this trend isn’t limited to slicing objects. In one widely shared video, an AI-generated woman performs a mukbang, but instead of food, she’s using chopsticks to eat a glowing bowl of molten lava. These fantasy visuals, while clearly artificial, have fascinated viewers.
Lava appears to be a recurring theme across this trend. In another viral example, an alien character wishes viewers a Happy Father’s Day while holding a plate of what appears to be sizzling lava shaped like a steak.
With AI content pushing creative boundaries, TikTok users continue to blur the line between sensory satisfaction and surreal entertainment—creating a new era of digital ASMR that is as strange as it is addictive.
