PESHAWAR:

Absence from a khuli kachahri proved costly for several Education Department officers as 20 administrative officials were suspended for 120 days over non-attendance.

According to official sources, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Education, Muhammad Asim, had directed the holding of public hearings across the province to address issues related to education, school conditions, and administrative performance. However, during a recent open court session in Peshawar, 20 officers failed to attend, prompting the Special Assistant to take serious notice and order disciplinary action.

Following the directive, the absent officers were suspended for four months. A spokesperson for the Education Department stated that the decision aims to ensure timely redressal of public complaints, restore administrative discipline, and promote a sense of accountability among officials.

Attendance at such public hearings has been declared mandatory for all officers, and strict action will be taken against those showing negligence or lack of interest in official duties. The department reiterated that no leniency will be shown.
