LAHORE:
A plan to launch a “Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card” for financial assistance for widows and orphan children was approved in a meeting chaired by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Special Assistant for Ushr and Zakat Rashid Nasrullah said while briefing the participants on the project that financial assistance of up to Rs100,000 each would be provided through the programme.
In the first phase, more than 40,000 deserving families would benefit from the project that will be launched immediately after Eid.
The widows and orphan children will receive Rs25,000 each through the scheme.
The chief minister said on the occasion that every citizen has a rightful share in Punjab’s resources and the government will utilise all available means to ensure that assistance reaches those who deserve it.
She said the Rehmat Card programme aims to help widows move towards self-employment and financial independence.
