Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take all necessary steps to ensure the safe repatriation of Pakistanis stranded in Iran.
The premier chaired a high-level review meeting on Saturday regarding the overall security situation in the country following the US-Israeli attack on Iran and Iran’s retaliatory attacks.
Referring to the Pakistanis currently visiting Iran, the PM directed that all citizens should be brought back safely to Pakistan via Azerbaijan. In this regard, he directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately contact the government of Azerbaijan.
Shehbaz also directed all relevant federal and provincial institutions to immediately ensure comprehensive and effective security measures given the prevailing situation. He emphasized that all institutions must discharge their responsibilities with mutual coordination and complete harmony.
The PM was informed that all security agencies are on alert in the light of the current situation and that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard national security.
Shehbaz stated that the people of Pakistan and the armed forces stand fully prepared at all times to safeguard the country’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Armed Forces of Pakistan are performing their duties in the best possible manner with national spirit and dedication,” he said.
He said the entire nation salutes the sacrifices security forces render in the war against terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam, chief secretaries of all four provinces, the inspector general of police, and other relevant senior officials.
