The Queen of Versailles, a musical on Broadway, was canceled after just entering its third week at the St. James Theatre.
This is a shock, given that the show has a critically acclaimed star, Kristin Chenoweth. The announcement came two days ago. Now, the actress has broken her silence on the early closing.
“I just want to say that I’m so proud of this new art that we’ve created, and it’s getting harder and harder to do,” she shares in a post on Instagram. “I think about all the shows in the past couple of seasons that have come and gone, that not everybody got to see.”
She continues, “I just love Broadway so much, and I love audiences and a live art form. And also go ahead and get a ticket to any Broadway show, because Broadway is the best, you have a live performance art form, and there’s nothing better than to look out and share an experience with an audience.”
It is worth noting that The Queen of Versailles started on Nov. 9. The play has raked in $6,443,798.
