Twitch streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker is facing widespread criticism after a video from his livestream sparked allegations of animal cruelty.’
The clip, lasting just over a minute, shows the political commentator addressing his pet dog, Kaya, during a Just Chatting session. When he told the dog to “go back and stop,” Kaya appeared to yelp before sitting down.
Moments later, HasanAbi noticed comments from viewers suggesting the dog looked “stressed.” He replied, “Kaya, please just f*king go back (the dog yelps)! Just stop! Jesus Christ! What are you doing? You’re being such a baby! … She just literally is so incredibly spoiled from my mom.”
The footage quickly went viral across Reddit and X, drawing millions of views. H3 Podcast host Ethan Klein accused HasanAbi of “animal cruelty,” claiming that the streamer had “activated the shock collar” when Kaya moved slightly from her bed. Klein wrote, “Horrifying animal cruelty caught on camera by Hasan as he activates her shock collar for one tiny step off of her bed. She cries in pain, poor baby.”
Twitch and Kick creator Felix “xQc” Lengyel also examined the clip in slow motion, suggesting there was a “98%” likelihood that HasanAbi had pressed a button linked to a shock collar. He added that he would retract his statement if proven wrong, acknowledging the seriousness of the accusation.
Streamer John “Tectone” joined the discussion, saying he was “beyond disgusted” and alleging that HasanAbi “uses his dog as a prop to seem more friendly.”
The controversy continues to unfold online as viewers debate the context of the clip and consider HasanAbi’s full response.
