LAHORE:
The Punjab School Education Department has ordered steps to make the annual examination system transparent and effective, under which the marking will be conducted under strict supervision.
Under the new instructions, 25 per cent of answer sheets from schools across the province will be selected for validation through a school-based assessment system.
The process aims to verify the accuracy of results.
School heads have been directed to maintain the complete record related to assessments.
Authorities warned that if any complaint regarding incorrect marking or result is received, strict action will be taken against the heads.
The department stated that strict action would be taken against schools found preparing fabricated results, while those ensuring accurate and genuine results would be encouraged.
The instructions also emphasised that the examination process in government as well as outsourced schools should remain confidential and transparent.
The Punjab Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) will independently review the quality of marking of eighth-grade examination papers.
According to the department, the performance of officials will also be evaluated on the basis of the assessment checking criteria.
