District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Abbas on Saturday delivered a verdict in a double murder case, sentencing two brothers to two death penalties each and a total fine of Rs2 million.

The court also ordered an additional six months imprisonment each in case the fine is not paid.

According to the prosecution, in the Jamna Chandia area of Gadahi police station, the accused Riaz Hussain Chandia and Fayyaz Ahmed Chandia, along with others, opened fire to avenge the murder of their relative Muhammad Asif, killing Rabia Bibi and Muhammad Shafqat.

After the incident, the suspects fled the scene.

The Gadahi police registered a case, arrested both accused, and submitted the investigation report to the court.

After completing the trial and establishing their guilt, Judge Muhammad Abbas handed down the sentences, imposing two death penalties on each brother and a total fine of Rs2 million.

The court further ruled that in case of non-payment of the fine, an additional six months of imprisonment would apply.

Following the verdict, both convicts were transferred to the Central Jail under tight security.
