Senior minister discusses transport infrastructure, law and order issues with KATI
KARACHI:
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon visited the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Wednesday, where he met with industrial leaders to discuss infrastructure, transport, and law and order challenges impacting Karachi’s industrial zones.
Welcomed by KATI President Ikram Rajput and other office bearers, Memon emphasized the Sindh government’s commitment to industrial development, stating that the economy thrives on the strength of its industrialists. “Taxpayers are the backbone of this country, and their concerns will be prioritized,” he said.
He acknowledged that past unrest and artificial instability had driven away investment from Sindh, but assured that the province is now on a path of peace and progress. “We are here as servants of the people, not as ministers,” he added, reaffirming the PPP’s philosophy of inclusive governance.
Memon highlighted renewed investor interest in the Dhabeji Economic Zone, particularly from Chinese firms under CPEC, and announced that KATI will be formally included in the planning of the upcoming 21-kilometer Yellow Line BRT project to ensure transparency and consultation.
He also noted that the Khairpur Economic Zone has received international recognition, reflecting the global confidence in Sindh’s industrial potential. Addressing concerns about urban growth, Memon said modern transport solutions are being developed to support Karachi’s expanding population and industrial workforce. The minister assured that law and order improvements remain a top priority, and that coordinated efforts are underway to create a secure, business-friendly environment across Sindh’s industrial corridors.
