KARACHI:
Tragedy struck a Karachi family in Karimabad when two brothers, aged 16 and 17, were crushed by a dumper truck while on their way to buy clothes for Eid. The incident has sparked outrage, with the family demanding swift action against the driver and the ‘dumper mafia’ operating in the city.
The deceased brothers, Tabish, 16, and Atif, 17, were students and also learning air-conditioning and refrigeration work to support their family. Neighbours said the siblings were excitedly heading to a tailor to pick up Eid clothes when the accident occurred.
Their father, a Grade-2 employee at a government college, said the family plans to arrange funds to transport and bury the bodies in their ancestral village in Hafizabad, Punjab. He called for strict action against those responsible for the accident.
The mother, visibly distraught, said, “the dumper truck has taken my two beloved children. I raised them, educated them, and now they have been crushed. I demand justice. I do not even have the money to bury them.” She added that her children earned about 200 rupees daily, learning a trade while studying.
The older brother condemned the increasing threat posed by heavy vehicles in Karachi.
