RAWALPINDI:
A spate of robbery incidents continues unabated in Rawalpindi, with criminals reportedly intensifying their activities ahead of Eidul Fitr, in what residents have described as an “Eidi campaign” by street robbers.
In the jurisdiction of Westridge Police Station, robbers allegedly assaulted a motorcyclist and snatched his motorcycle and helmet. CCTV footage of the incident has since surfaced.
The footage shows three suspects dressed in shalwar kameez walking calmly along a street, while other passers-by can also be seen moving through the area. Moments later, the trio seize an opportunity and surround a lone motorcyclist.
One suspect is seen grabbing the motorcycle from behind to stop it, while another steps in front of the rider and brandishes a pistol. A third stands between them and forcibly pulls the rider off the motorcycle. As the victim hesitates in apparent distress, the suspects assault him, push him aside and seize the vehicle.
The footage further shows one of the robbers placing the rider’s helmet on another accomplice before all three flee the scene on the stolen motorcycle.
