KARACHI:
Dairy farmers, wholesalers, and milk retailers have demanded that the Commissioner of Karachi immediately revise the official milk price in line with rising production costs to prevent an industry-wide crisis.
At a joint press conference on Thursday, All Karachi Milk Retailers Welfare Association and the Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association of Pakistan said that the official milk price in Karachi has not been increased for the past 15 months, despite production costs having surged to Rs278 per litre.
Farmers said that the cost of fodder, feed, diesel, and labour has risen sharply in recent months, but the dairy sector has continued to comply with the official price set by the administration since June 2024.
The Dairy Farmers Association concluded by demanding that the retail price of milk be set at Rs270 per litre.
