Siwa and Hughes have shared their thoughts on engagement timing after meeting on ‘Celebrity Big Brother UK’
JoJo Siwa and her boyfriend Chris Hughes have addressed speculation about a possible Christmas engagement, with the couple sharing differing but light-hearted views on when a proposal might happen.
The pair began dating earlier this year after appearing together on Celebrity Big Brother UK, quickly becoming one of the show’s most talked-about romances.
Speaking to The Sun in a joint interview published on December 20, Hughes discussed the idea of proposing during the festive season. “You always get people who get engaged on Christmas morning,” he said. “You see it on Instagram—every year, you’re gonna see somebody who gets engaged. I like the idea of it not being at a time where it could be expected.”
His comments appeared to rule out an imminent holiday proposal, despite growing public interest in the couple’s relationship.
Siwa responded by offering a more unconventional perspective, suggesting she could be the one to propose. “This is my thing,” she said. “What if I got him a ring? What if I proposed?” Hughes expressed resistance to the idea, prompting Siwa to clarify that she would only consider doing so if she felt a proposal was long overdue.
“I wouldn’t do it unless you waited seven years,” she added. “Then I’d be like, ‘Alright, my ass is getting down on the knee then.’ She went on to jokingly set a firm deadline, telling Hughes, “Just so you know, on May 27, 2032, I will be down on one knee. I will not wait one extra day.”
The exchange reflects the ease and humour the couple have often displayed publicly.
While a Christmas engagement appears unlikely, both have made clear that they see a future together, even if the timing remains undecided.
