LAHORE:

Kahna police claimed to have arrested the suspect involved in the brutal murder of a father and his two sons inside a house in a private housing society within a few hours of the crime coming to light.

Police said the accused is a longtime friend of one of the victims, Kamran, and allegedly committed the murders after the victims demanded the return of Rs3 million.

A case has been registered on the complaint of Qurban, the younger brother of the deceased Nauman, and further investigation is under way.

The incident came to light on Saturday when three decomposed bodies were recovered from a house in a private housing society in the Kahna area.

The victims were identified as 65-year-old Nauman and his sons Imran, 32, and Kamran, 27.

All three were found with their hands and feet tied and had been strangled to death.

Police said the father and sons were living alone in the house and had not been seen outside for about a month.

Neighbours alerted the police after a foul smell began emanating from the house. Kahna police, along with forensic and crime scene units, reached the spot, collected evidence, and shifted the bodies to hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police sources said the bodies were around one to one-and-a-half months old and were in an advanced state of decomposition. Household items were found damaged, while the suspects had taken away the victims’ mobile phones and the DVR of the CCTV cameras installed in the house.

According to Investigation Incharge Zahid Saleem, the victims were originally residents of Sargodha and had moved to the Kahna area in 2021.

Nauman was a retired government employee, while his elder son Kamran was serving in the Labour Department.

As no close relatives initially came forward, Kamran’s friend Roheel volunteered to become the complainant.

However, police grew suspicious of his statements and took him into custody for questioning.

During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, stating that he owed the victims Rs3 million. When they demanded the money back, he allegedly administered sedative pills, tied their hands and feet, and strangled Nauman and his two sons to death.

Police said further investigation is in progress and action will be taken strictly in accordance with the law.
