ISLAMABAD: The government has notified the hike in fixed gas charges of protected domestic consumers by Rs200 per month and non-protected consumers by Rs500-1,000 from July 1, 2025.

The protected consumers will now pay fixed charges of Rs600 a month instead of Rs400 a month. The non-protected consumers consuming gas up to 1.5 hm3 will now pay Rs1,500 a month as fixed charges with a hike of Rs500 from Rs1,000 a month and those non-protected consumers consuming more than 1.5 hm3 gas will be paying Rs3,000 a month instead of Rs2,000 as fixed charges. The consumers will also continue to pay Rs40 a month as rent for the meter. As per the notification, the gas tariff for bulk consumers has been increased by Rs275 to Rs3,175 from Rs2,900 per MMBtu. For the power sector, the gas tariff has been increased by Rs175 to Rs1,225 from Rs1,050 per MMBtu. However, the gas rate for general industry for processing has been increased by Rs150 to Rs2,300 from Rs2,150 per MMBtu.

There will be no changes in the gas tariff for captive power plants, cement, commercial, CNG and fertilizer sectors.
