ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday held deliberations on the reserved seats in the light of recent Supreme Court verdict and decided to meet again on Wednesday (today) to come to a conclusion.

It was learnt that a decision could not be taken, as the Law Wing was unprepared in view of the pending applications of PMLN and JUI-Fazl as well as a few individual related applications.

ECP sources, however, made it clear that a certified copy of the order passed by the Supreme Court’s constitutional bench was received on Saturday, which had dismissed the petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and declared the party ineligible for reserved seats in the national and provincial assemblies.

They maintained that the full Election Commission will meet again and hopefully a decision will be taken to be followed by issuance of necessary notifications.
