Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Food, Abdul Jabbar Khan, has assured that there is no wheat flour crisis in the province, as government warehouses currently hold 1.3 million bags of wheat-sufficient to meet provincial requirements. However, prices may rise due to market forces, he said.

Speaking to the media, he said although no release policy has been announced yet, the government is reviewing the recent increase in flour prices, and a final decision on the new release policy will be made in the upcoming cabinet meeting.

Abdul Jabbar Khan said that the current price of a 100-kilogram wheat bag stands at Rs9,400 and may rise further in the future.

Responding to a question, he noted that while the Punjab government has imposed a ban on wheat transportation from its province, Sindh faces no risk of shortages due to its ample reserves.
